How to Use Polyester Horsehair Braid

A polyester horsehair braid is a popular type of crinoline netting. It adds body and structure to skirts and dresses. Available in different widths, horsehair braid is used for a variety of purposes. Here are a few examples of ways to use horsehair braid. If you're in the market for a new hat, you might want to consider buying a horsehair braid.

Polyester Horsehair Braid is used to stiffen the hem edges of long skirts and theatrical costumes. It is washable and dry-cleanable. It is also an excellent choice for DIY projects, including wedding favors and pew bows. You can also use horsehair braid as a swag to hang down the aisle or a decorative arch. Once you've found your perfect hemline, it's time to use horsehair braid!

For sleeve caps, horsehair braid can add a nice pouf or body to puffed sleeves. To apply horsehair braid to a sleeve cap, cut the braid to approximately one-and-a-half times the length of the area to be covered. If your braid does not come with built-in gathering thread, you can add gathering thread and pull the braid to the desired fullness. Once you've achieved the desired fullness, you can then stitch the horsehair braid into the upper sleeve seam allowance.

When working with horsehair braid, you should always keep the hem neat and tucked. When working with narrow braids, you can simply place the hem facing along the braid and sew it at a quarter-inch from the edge. For a more intricate hem, you can always turn the braid inside-out and topstitch it. Then, you're ready to use the horsehair braid on your next project.
